Some good reads

I've been deeply engrossed in two books lately which have really got me thinking (well for those who know me...thinking EVEN MORE).

The first is: "Understanding Power" By Noam Chomsky. For those interested in political science, and the way our world really works, this is a must read. Chomsky's theses driven books are difficult to read; however, this book is a collection of different interviews, and sessions he held, where media were able to sit down and pick his brain. It covers all the topics one would want to hear about with respect to the politics of power. I feel that this is a MUST read, as it will shed light onto the way our world works, from a notable scholar on the topic.

The second book is: "The Hiram Key" by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas. This book is not for everyone. It covers the topic of the nebulous "Freemasons". While fans of Dan Brown's now famous "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" would find this book extremely interesting, it is not written in the same manner. It is a pure "factual" book, and so does not have the feel of a movie script. Nonetheless is offers an interesting twist on the Judeo-Christian history. One notable point however, is that it is blasphemous at times, well actually it's blasphemous at it's very core. It is still interesting, but I have warned you in advance, that it is not for the faint of heart (i.e. those who can't handle another point of view). If you do read this book, read it, but don't get too caught up in it. It can challenge your faith, as it challenges Judeo-Christian thought (similar to Dan Brown's books).

Pick up Chomsky's book from one of those used bookstores for no more than $15. I got the Hiram Key new at a Chapters outlet for $13. If you don't know where to get cheap new books, there are a few downtown that I frequent regularly. Let me know if you want to know where.
